Internships
Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) has fourteen (14) affiliation agreements with universities for internship opportunities, including Sacramento State, University of the Pacific, UMass Global, Walden University, and Liberty University. The main purpose of the internship is to help students become professional social workers. This is done by increasing a student’s knowledge of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Social Work Competencies. Interns learn the Service Coordinator role and join a Case Management Unit that works with either Adults, Children, Residential, or Early Start. At the conclusion of an internship, interns may apply for full-time employment at ACRC.
In addition to our university affiliations, ACRC is involved with Learning Aligned Employment Program (LAEP). LAEP is a program through Los Rios Community College District as an initiative to increase the number of students that find quality internships in their field of study. Students come from Sacramento City College, Consumnes River College, American River College, or Folsom Lake College.
If you are a student interested in learning more about interning at ACRC at any of our eight offices, contact ACRC Field Instructor Rob Franco, LCSW, by email rfranco@altaregional.org.
