Justin

Justin began services at California Resource Services for Independent Living (CRS) through Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) in March 2024. He had difficulty managing the responsibilities adult life required of him, but CRS helped with organization and understanding important documents that would be addressed to him. CRS also assisted with his employment pursuits, and Justin is happy to say he is working through the Paid Internship Program.

The Paid Internship Program affords clients the opportunity to have a person-centered, paid internship in a community, integrated setting for up to 1,040 hours over 12 months. It connected Justin, through CRS, with a nonprofit called Love Action INT, which assists people in need with food and other basic life necessities. At Love Action INT, Justin works as an office assistant and has been in the position since June 2024.

Working has given Justin the opportunity to live independently and pay for his life needs. He hopes that upon the completion of the internship, he can be hired as a full-time employee. In addition to his full-time employment goal, Justin wants to work in Information Technology, commonly referred to as IT, within the California state government. He has been actively looking on CalCareers and taking the necessary state tests to rate his competency. CRS has been instrumental in keeping him organized and motivated to achieve his goals.

Outside of work, Justin enjoys hanging out with family. He strives to live a simple, yet comfortable life and wishes to be financially stable so he can continue to provide for himself. Justin feels grateful for the resources that he has been connected with and plans to continue meeting the goals he has established for himself.
