Margaret

Margaret is a proud stay-at-home mother to two children, Lyrik and Keyshia. As a client, Margaret recognized her life goals and knew she wanted to live independently with her two children. Lyrik and Keyshia also receive services from Alta California Regional Center and Margaret can apply her first-hand experience as a client to help her children.

One of Margaret’s favorite parts about being a mother is being able to give them 24/7 care and spending time with them. She enjoys watching shows with Lyrik and letting Keyshia practice braiding her hair. Margaret likes keeping their space clean and providing a home for them.

When her youngest daughter, Lyrik, starts preschool, Margaret wants to work a part time job at a retail store near their home. For now, Margaret recognizes the importance of giving herself time to decompress and relax from motherhood. Margaret likes to hang out with a friend or enjoys a warm bath to make time for herself. With the support of the father, Tommy, who lives nearby, Margaret can have her needed relaxation time.

Despite the difficulties being a parent can bring, Margaret feels happy and fulfilled as a  mother. She enjoys seeing her children meet new milestones and is satisfied with the everyday moments that bring joy and beauty to their lives. She shared that celebrating womanhood is important because of the amazing things she does as a mother, and as a person. Margaret values her independence and values the family she has created.
