National Core Indicators In-Person Survey

Post

Adults (18+) may be invited to participate in the National Core Indicators (NCI) In-Person Survey. This survey is held throughout California for clients of the 21 regional centers. The purpose of the survey is to give clients an opportunity to evaluate the services and supports they receive through the regional centers and service providers. The results of the survey will help California and regional centers establish goals and make changes.

The survey will address topics like:

  • rights
  • choices
  • service planning
  • community inclusion
  • health and safety
  • and more

Clients will be contacted by the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) to schedule a time to conduct the survey at a place that is comfortable for the client. The meetings typically take 45 minutes – 1 hour. All respondents of the survey can choose to answer or not answer any question they wish. Clients can also have a person with them during the in-person meeting for additional support. Some questions on the survey must be answered solely by the client, meaning if a client chooses to have a person with them for support, they cannot intervene on behalf of the client.

To prepare yourself for the meeting, watch this helpful video. To learn more about NCI, visit the Department of Developmental Services website. The survey collection will end on June 30, 2025.
