Tips for Mental and Physical Well-being
The Department of Developmental Services has a Wellness Toolkit that they periodically add information to. Additionally, taking care of yourself mentally and physically is important to maintain your well-being. Applying these tips can help you live better:
- Eat well – get in a variety of fruits and veggies
- Exercise – 30 to 60 minutes per day
- Quality time – spend time with special people doing things you enjoy
- Take Care of Your Body – bathe/shower and brush your teeth daily
- Rest – 6 to 8 hours per night
- Create a Meaningful Daily Routine – with activities you enjoy and make you feel proud
- Take Care of Your Mind – Practice mindfulness and meditation activities
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, The National Suicide Prevention Hotline has added a new 3-digit number to call - 988. The crisis line also promises to connect folks that call in with a local crisis response team in their area.
Many individuals struggle with over-use of use electronic devices.
