Vincent
On the Path to a Career
Vincent has made immense strides in building his confidence through his time at California Resource Services for Independent Living (CRS) and as a client of Alta California Regional Center (ACRC). He struggled with being vocal about his needs and would shy away from conversations, but at CRS, he practices daily conversation to improve his speaking. This improvement has helped him become more confident when it comes to finding a job and being in job interviews.
In 2023, Vincent graduated high school and as the “baby” of the family, his parents and siblings were proud of his achievement. He knew he didn’t want to continue with higher education, and wanted to immediately enter the workforce, with the goal of finding a full-time position.
In June 2024, Vincent began services with CRS to gain guidance and assistance for job readiness, applications, and job skills. Vincent has already secured two job interviews, and although he wasn’t hired for those positions, he felt like the experience of the interviews helped him practice conversational skills. Additionally, Vincent is very flexible about what industry he would like to work in and just wants to excel as an employee.
Goal-wise, Vincent hopes to buy a car and help his family pay bills. As a Mexican descendant, Chicano and lowriding culture and is very integrated into Vincent’s family and he would love to own a low-rider car like a 1985 Cutlass Supreme. Vincent and his father and brother like to work on cars together and it gives quality bonding time. Vincent loves this part of his culture, in addition to the delicious food he enjoys.
Outside of the employment world, Vincent hopes to move out of his family home in 2025. He is very focused on working out and is excited to welcome his nephew into the world very soon.
